Hello everyone!
On this occasion I would like to share a story about my service in the Church.
Before that, let’s get to know each other. My name is Felisitas Nasya Veata My nickname is Felis. I am a 9th grade student at Santa Maria Middle School, or more precisely, 9.1 grade. I will now tell you about my service activities at the Borromeus Church.I am a Catholic student, and because of that, I take part in several ministries at church, such as Altar Server (Misidnar), Neighborhood Choir, and OMK (Catholic Youth). I serve in two churches: at the Cathedral Church (in the Neighborhood Choir and I used to be an altar server there) and at Borromeus Church (as an altar server and as part of OMK). Now, I would like to tell you about my experience serving as an altar server at Borromeus. Enjoy reading my story, I hope you enjoy it.
Some of the photos you saw were taken before and after I served. I took pictures with the priest, fellow altar servers, lectors, and psalmists.
In the photo are my seniors: Sister Laras, Sister Chelsi, and many more. It turns out there's also a brother in the photo. The brother is the future priest.
A few weeks ago when I was in the mood to serve, I served at the church as an altar server. I was actually scheduled to serve with two of my seniors, but they did not come. As a result, I had to serve alone. Before the Mass began, I felt extremely scared and anxious because I was still new to the altar server ministry at Borromeus. I was also a bit upset because the seniors who were supposed to serve with me did not show up.
However, while I was in the sacristy preparing to serve, the priest and the other liturgical ministers encouraged me. They supported me and helped me feel less nervous. When the Mass began, I served as usual, but I had to handle many tasks on my own. For example, I was the one who brought the offerings to the priest, rang the bells, carried the wooden lantern, and returned the Bible to the sacristy.
I did all of that while feeling very nervous, but I kept my spirit up and continued to pray so that I wouldn’t make any serious mistakes. As the Mass was about to end, I felt incredibly happy because I was able to serve without making any major mistakes. I was very proud of myself for serving God sincerely and doing it well despite being alone. After the Mass, the priest and the other ministers were also happy because the service went smoothly even with the challenges we faced.
Because of this experience, I have become even more motivated to continue serving as an altar server. It has become a reminder for me to always show up and serve faithfully whenever I am scheduled.
Maybe that's all from me, I hope this story can give a good impression and I hope you can also become more interested in serving in the church, especially becoming a Missionary like me. That is all and thank you.
