Playing Traditional Games

Yesterday, my friends and I played a traditional game. We played behind my house, where there are many bamboo trees and a large open space. I played with ten other friends: Tresno, Ayu, Gimin, Sugeng, Anto, Sum, Trisno, Heriyanto, Arto, and Sulis.

We played oray-orayan, a traditional game from Indonesia. The game was fun. We walked through a tunnel that was actually formed by our friends. While playing oray-orayan, Sulis was caught inside the tunnel, and then he chose the Mango fruit, which meant he joined the right team. Yesterday, while playing the game, Tresno even cried because he kept losing, and I had to calm him down. Because the game was so exciting, we played until almost six in the evening, and in the end, all eleven of us were scolded by our mothers.

What is certain is that playing oray-orayan is very fun. Today, I will play it again with my friends. I hope children out there can learn about this game, which is said to be rarely played nowadays. Let’s play oray-orayan!
